From low lands to gently hilly landscapes up to high mountains of over 2,000 metres - Lower Austria offers an extremely wide spectrum of impressions and a lot of fun.
Lower Austria is particularly famous as country for bon vivants, because of the good wine - Lower Austria is the largest wine area in Austria - because of the cosy pubs and "Heurigen" and because of regional specialities such as asparagus, pumpkin or poppy seed. But also because of the various nature experiences in the two national parks "Donau Auen" and "Thayatal".
The formidable world heritage places Wachau and Semmeringbahn are the most impressive attractions.
