The most important sights:
Hofburg: The private premises of emperor Franz Josef (regency of 1848 - 1916) and his wife, empress Elisabeth. The treasury with the famous crown jewels is a must for every visitor.
Schloss Schönbrunn: at the former summer residence of the Habsburgs 40 rooms tell of the glamour at the court of empress Maria Theresia. Few steps away you will find a museum where you can admire the wonderful carriage of emperor Franz Josef, a puppet theatre and the palace gardens of Schönbrunn, a picture book example of the art of gardening. From the "Gloriette" you have a wonderful view over Vienna.
Stephansdom: the gothic cathedral marks the city centre, its south tower measures 137 m.
Riesenrad: for over 100 years the giant ferris wheel in the Vienneses Prater has been one of the landmarks of the city.
