Iceland
Hike over glaciers, gaze at geysers, visit volcanoes, see seal and puffin colonies on the coast, admire the Northern Lights or breath in the bright night under the midnight sun - in Iceland you'll encounter nature as you've never seen it before.
But this is not only a country of beauty and adventure, the rich seam of folklore, literature and history reflects the tough independence of its inhabitants, who still speak a form of Old Norse. Reykjavik, their capital, is a weekend party town; the highlands offer spectacular scenery and remote trekking routes; National Parks present fabulous waterfalls, lush vegetation and bizarre rock formations; while south central Iceland features the country's two top attractions - the great two–tiered cataract of Gullfoss and the spouting hot springs of Geysir.
