Glasgow is with around 629.500 habitants Scotlands biggest city. It´s located in the Southwest of the country on the river Clyde, on the Scotish west coast.
As a location for ship building industry is Glasgow a true "working city" - in contrast to Edinburgh, the capital of Scotland. There are a cathedral of the twelfth century, three universities (University of Glasgow, University of Strathclyde and Glasgow Caledonian University) and the Glasgow School of Art.
It´s definitely worth to see the galleries and museums of Glasgow, which provide some of the most significant collections of the British islands and almost all with free entry to visit. Important museums of Glasgow are the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum, the Hunterian Art Gallery (of the University of Glasgow) and the Burrell Collection.
In addition Glasgow offers excellent malls and enjoys in the meantime the reputation to be the second best shopping city of Great Britain!
